Simone Biles
Simone Arianne Biles (/sI’moUn ‘baI@lz/; March 14, 1997, [4]) is an American gymnast who is artistic. Shannon Miller holds the record for most Olympic medals awarded by an American gymnast, with seven. She is also the equal ninth overall. Biles is considered by many to be the best gymnast ever, having won 25 World Championship medals. [5] In 2022, Biles was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden. Biles received individual gold medals at Rio's 2016 Summer Olympics. Bronze on the balance beam, vault and all-around were her awards. Biles also won bronze as part of the United States Team, which was nicknamed the "Final Five". She was pulled out of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics because of "the twisties", an air balance disorder that temporarily affects her ability to maintain her balance. Biles was awarded an Olympic silver medal for the US team, and the bronze medal on the balance beam. The team was highly praised for her partial withdrawal, determination and focus on safety, mental and physical health. She has also been a five-time World all-around champion (2013-15, 2018-19) as well as five-time World floor exercises champion (2013-15 and 2018-19) and three-time World balance bead champion (2014-15 and 2019) and two-time World vault champion (1918-19) 2021), seven-time United States all-around champ (2013-16 2018, 2018-19, 2021) and part of the gold medalists on the American team at the 2014 2015, 2018 and 2014 World Arts Gymnastics Championships. She was also an World silver medalist in the vault and balance beam (2013 and 2014) in 2013 and 2014, and a threetime World bronze medalist in vault (2015 2013, 2013 and in 2018 on uneven bars).
Biles is the gymnast who has won the most World gold medals (19) and World medals (25) in the world. Biles also beats the record set by Vitaly Scherbo of 23 World medals. Biles won her 24thplace - and 25th position with gold medals at Stuttgart's competition in 2019. [8] She is the female gymnast who has the highest number of World all-around championships (5). She's the sixth woman to be awarded both an individual and a team title in the Olympics or World Championships. Biles is the 10th American female gymnast, and the first American female gymnast to earn the World medal for every event and was also the first gymnast from a female since Daniela Silivas (1988), to win an Olympic medal in every Olympic Games or World Championships. Biles was born on March 14, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. She is the fourth of her siblings. Shanon Biles, her birth mother, couldn't care for Simone as well as her three other children, Adria, Ashley, or Tevin. All four children were in and out foster care. After learning that Shanon's grandchildren were being cared for in foster homes, Ron Biles (Biles' maternal grandfather) and Nellie Cayetano Biles (his second wife) started to care for Shanon in Spring, Texas. In 2003, the couple officially adopted Simone and her younger sister Adria. Ron's sister Shanon as well as Shanon's aunt Harriet adopted their two children. Biles is a Belizean citizen through her adoptive mom and believes that Belize her second homeland. Biles as well as her family members are Catholic.
